Russian man killed in Georgia identified as 37-year-old dolphin trainer

The Russian citizen who was killed in Georgia has been identified as 37-year-old dolphin trainer Dmitry Sheremetyev.

Sheremetyev worked as a mammal trainer at a dolphinarium in Sevastopol, Baza reports on its Telegram channel.

According to his wife, Sheremetyev was walking with friends on the day of the incident when an unidentified man approached the group and lured him to a secluded, poorly lit area without surveillance cameras. The attacker reportedly stabbed him several times.

Sheremetyev’s body was later discovered with injuries to his face, including a broken nose and cuts. His family is now raising funds to arrange the transportation of his remains to Russia.

The suspected attacker fled the scene but was subsequently detained at the Armenian border. He was identified as a 60-year-old Armenian citizen.

Investigators believe the killing was motivated by robbery. According to the report, the suspect took Sheremetyev’s bag containing personal documents and $1,000, along with his sneakers and mobile phone.

The suspect sold the sneakers, concealed the proceeds and later handed the phone over to police. He has refused to reveal where he left the victim’s bag.

The detainee had previously served a prison sentence for murder, according to the report.
