Georgian, Turkish interior ministries sign memorandum on cooperation UPDATED

Georgia and Türkiye have signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in education and academia between the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Police and Public Safety Academy and the Turkish National Police Academy, Georgia’s Interior Ministry has said.

Sharing a post on Facebook, it noted that the memorandum was signed by the heads of the two academies, Giorgi Sakhokia and Murat Balci, during Turkish Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi’s official visit to Georgia, Caliber.Az reports.

The memorandum provides for the development of bilateral cooperation and the exchange of experience in training, education and research.

The agreement is expected to further deepen cooperation between the Georgian and Turkish interior ministries in the field of police education.

Georgia and Türkiye are set to strengthen interior ministry cooperation during a meeting between Turkish Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi and his Georgian counterpart, Sulkhan Tamazashvili, the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs has said in a post on Facebook.

Mustafa Çiftçi already arrived at Tbilisi International Airport, where Georgian Interior Minister Sulkhan Tamazashvili welcomed him, Caliber.Az reports.

As part of the visit, the interior ministers of the two countries will hold an expanded-format meeting.

A memorandum of understanding between the police academies of the Georgian and Turkish interior ministries is also expected to be signed.

Following the talks, the ministers will make a joint statement to the press.
