Speaker: Armenian army now serves as pillar of peace and statehood
Armenia’s Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan said the country’s armed forces are now regarded primarily as a force for maintaining peace rather than solely as a tool of warfare.
According to Caliber.Az, citing Armenian media, Simonyan made the remarks in a message dedicated to the anniversary of the establishment of Armenia’s Armed Forces.
He stressed that perceptions of the military have evolved over time, emphasising its broader role in society and state-building.
“Gone are the days when the army was seen exclusively in the context of war. Today, while highly valuing the important mission of the armed forces, we view them as a key pillar of preserving peace, strengthening statehood, and developing society, by developing which we can move forward, building a safe, just, and democratic Armenia,” Simonyan said.
