France to begin training of Ukrainian pilots in January
The first group of Ukrainian military pilots will arrive for training in France in January 2024.
France will provide initial training before the Ukrainian pilots continue their training in other countries.
According to Le Figaro, in France, the classic initial training of military pilots, both theoretical and practical, takes place at Air Force Base 701 in the city of Salon-de-Provence, which houses the Initial Military Aeronautical Training Center (CFAMI). The training then takes place in the city of Cognac, where cadets receive flight training on training aircraft.
According to the newspaper, such training is designed for Ukrainian pilots who have no experience in flying fighter jets. After the initial training, Ukrainian pilots will undergo flight programs on F-16 fighters, including at the Fetesti air base in Romania.
