German FM accuses Russia of undermining European peace
German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has accused Russia of undermining peace in Europe, despite being a part of the European family.
In a recent statement, Berbock highlighted that Russia’s actions over the past thousand days have disrupted Europe’s peace order, Caliber.Az reports citing Russian media.
“We are facing a situation where, for over a thousand days, Russia—also part of the European family—has been attacking our European peace framework,” Baerbock said.
She further criticized Moscow for allegedly engaging in hybrid warfare against European nations, citing cyberattacks and the dispatch of explosive-laden parcels.
Baerbock also expressed strong support for US President Joe Biden's decision to authorize the use of ATACMS missiles against deep Russian targets, calling it a crucial move in the ongoing conflict.
In response, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on November 21 that Russia had struck the Yuzhmash military plant in Dnipro, Ukraine, using the new medium-range Oreshnik missile system.
Putin emphasized that these strikes could bypass air defence systems, and Ukraine’s population would be notified in advance to facilitate evacuations.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov noted that Russia is not obligated to inform other nations about such missile launches, but a message was automatically sent to the US within 30 minutes of the strike.
This tension has raised further debates on the legitimacy and consequences of military strikes, as British politicians have also criticized the permission to target Russian territories with ATACMS and Storm Shadow missiles.
