ICC members prepare for potential US sanctions against court

Member states of the International Criminal Court (ICC) are preparing for the possibility that the United States could impose sanctions directly against the court as an institution, a diplomatic source said.

The countries are also working on practical measures to ensure that the ICC can continue operating if Washington expands its sanctions against the court, the source said, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

“States parties are already preparing for a scenario in which sanctions could be imposed directly against the court as an organization,” the source said.

According to the diplomatic source, the preparations include exploring mechanisms that would enable the ICC to maintain its activities in the event of further US restrictions.
