Zelenskyy orders faster production of interceptor drones

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has ordered an acceleration in the production of high-speed interceptor drones designed to counter jet-powered Shahed drones.

Speaking after a meeting of Ukraine's Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, Zelenskyy said prototypes of the weapons had already been developed and that work was under way to improve their effectiveness.

The meeting also discussed involving businesses in the production and supply of certain air-defence systems.

Zelenskyy said Ukraine planned to increase production of high-speed interceptor drones and low-cost missiles as Russia expands production of similar weapons.

He said Ukrainian intelligence had information about Russian plans and that corresponding asymmetric operations had already been approved.
