Germany to allocate €250 million to Ukraine’s energy system

03 September 2026 15:07

Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy has announced that it will allocate an additional €250 million for urgent repairs to Ukraine’s energy infrastructure ahead of winter.

The ministry said the assistance would be provided through development bank KfW and transferred to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, Caliber.Az reports, citing Ukrainian media.

Ukraine will use the fund to purchase spare parts and equipment for damaged energy infrastructure.

The assistance will help ensure the supply of electricity and heating to the population despite ongoing Russian attacks, the ministry said.

“Ukraine is not a distant war for us, and its security is a European responsibility. Energy supply remains the frontline of this war. That is why we support Ukraine in protecting and restoring its energy infrastructure and call on all international partners to make further efforts,” German Economy Minister Katherina Reiche noted.
