Houthis launch hypersonic missile strike on Israeli airbase
Yemen's Ansar Allah (Houthi) movement has reportedly launched a hypersonic ballistic missile strike targeting Israel's Negev airbase, located in the southern region of the country.
The missile strike was confirmed by the group's spokesman, Yahya Saree, Caliber.Az reports citing foreign media.
According to Saree, the Yemeni Armed Forces fired a "Palestine-2" hypersonic ballistic missile at the Negev-based military facility. The strike is said to have targeted the Israeli airbase in the Negev desert, which is part of the broader area that the Houthis refer to as "occupied Palestine," a term they use to describe all of Israel, including major cities such as Tel Aviv and Ashkelon.
The missile strike marks a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict, with the Houthis demonstrating their ability to target key military infrastructure in Israel. Further details regarding the extent of the damage or casualties from the attack remain unclear.
This comes after the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) reported last evening that alerts had been activated in the southern Negev area following a "suspicious aerial target that crossed into the country" after the Israeli Air Forces had already intercepted one launch that "made its way from the direction of Yemen."
