Germany almost completely cuts oil imports from Russia
13 March 2023 14:30
Since the second phase of the EU oil embargo came into force, almost no Russian oil has been imported into Germany.
The report came from Tagesschau based on data from the German Federal Statistical Office.
In January 2023, Germany received only 3,500 tons of Russian oil. In January 2022 - a month before the Russian attack on Ukraine - imports stood at 2.8 million tons.
“As a result, oil imports from Russia have practically stopped,” the statistical agency reports. "Arithmetically, it fell by 99.9 per cent."
Russia's share of Germany's total oil imports has fallen from 36.5% in January 2022 to just 0.1% now.
