Indian radiological report confirms destruction of BrahMos missile depot in Punjab
A recent report from India’s National Radiological Safety Department has confirmed earlier claims made by Pakistan regarding the destruction of a BrahMos missile depot located in the Indian state of Punjab.
According to a report by Samaa.tv, the Indian radiological safety agency highlighted that following the incident, a radiation hazard warning was issued for the affected area due to a significant threat to security and public safety.
The report detailed that evacuation orders were issued for residents within a three-kilometre radius surrounding the missile depot. Additionally, people living within a five-kilometre radius were advised to keep all doors and windows closed as a precautionary measure to reduce the risk of exposure to radioactive contamination. This radiological threat has raised serious concerns about the safety of the local population as well as the potential for environmental pollution in the region.
The missile depot reportedly sustained damage during a Pakistani military strike on May 10, an event that Pakistan had previously asserted. The confirmation by the Indian National Radiological Safety Department serves as critical evidence supporting Islamabad’s official account of the military incident.
Despite this confirmation, Indian authorities have yet to release an official public statement providing further details or clarifying the findings of the report, including the precise scale or consequences of any radioactive leakage stemming from the attack.
