Gunfire breaks out on Kyrgyz-Tajik border
An incident involving the use of firearms occurred on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border.
"At about 12.20 pm not far from Ak-Bosogo settlement of Leilek district of Batken region, the Kyrgyz border guard noticed Tajik citizens - shepherds grazing cattle on the territory of Kyrgyzstan 250-300 metres from the state border line. The Tajik citizens ignored the border guards' demands to leave Kyrgyz territory and started throwing stones at the servicemen," Kyrgyz media reported, citing the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of the country (SCNS).
One of the shepherds fired two or three shots at the Kyrgyz border guard. To prevent the situation from escalating, Kyrgyz border guards fired warning shots into the air, after which they fled into Tajik territory.
According to unconfirmed reports, one of the Tajik citizens was wounded in the leg.
