Armenia, Iran bound by shared interests, PM Pashinyan says
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan emphasized the deep and natural ties between Armenia and Iran as he met with Iran’s Secretary of Supreme National Security Council Ali Akbar Ahmadian in Yerevan.
This marks the first visit by a high-ranking foreign official to Armenia in the new year, underscoring the significance of the bilateral relationship, Caliber.Az reports citing Russian media.
Pashinyan remarked that Armenia and Iran are bound by "intrinsic interests," emphasizing the significance of further strengthening their cooperation. The prime minister reiterated Armenia's commitment to expanding ties with Iran across a range of sectors, including technology, industry, energy, agriculture, infrastructure, and road construction.
The discussions also revolved around the dynamic progress in bilateral relations and the potential for new avenues of collaboration. Both sides expressed optimism about further cooperation, particularly in the context of the Armenian government’s “Crossroads of the Peace” project, which aims to unblock regional transport routes.
Ahmadian affirmed Iran’s support for the “Crossroads of the Peace” initiative, which seeks to restore transport links with Azerbaijan and integrate them into a broader regional infrastructure framework, promoting connectivity and economic growth across the region.
