IRGC official blames US for global economic disruption linked to Strait of Hormuz
General Ali Fadavi, Deputy Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), has held the United States responsible for global economic problems resulting from disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz.
Speaking on Iranian state television, Fadavi said that the U.S. had miscalculated its objectives, aiming to achieve certain targets within three to five days but failing to accomplish any, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
He claimed that this failure had been acknowledged by several Western analysts and argued that American actions, intended to weaken Iran, had instead pursued what he described as “very primitive goals.” Fadavi added that while the Strait of Hormuz remained technically open, U.S. missteps had restricted global access, despite the strait’s critical role in the world economy.
Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump had warned that the United States would destroy Iran’s power stations, oil wells, and the island of Kharg in the Persian Gulf if a deal with Iran was not reached promptly.
