Saudi Arabia condemns Iran’s attack on its tanker in Strait of Hormuz

Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry has condemned Iran’s attack on the Saudi oil tanker SIDR as it was passing through the Strait of Hormuz, which resulted in the deaths of crew members.

In a post on X, the ministry also condemned Iranian attacks on Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait, expressing full support and solidarity with those countries should they take retaliatory measures, Caliber.Az reports.

The ministry called for an end to the escalation, respect for the safety of international shipping and the stability of global energy supplies, as well as respect for the sovereignty of neighbouring states.

On September 1, Iranian media reported that the Saudi tanker SIDR had been “stopped” by strikes while passing through the southern corridor of the Strait of Hormuz.
