Saudi Arabia becomes top buyer of live sheep, goats from Georgia

Georgia exported 4,157 tonnes of live sheep and goats worth $16.484 million to foreign markets in January-July 2026, with Saudi Arabia emerging as the largest market by value, according to Georgia’s National Statistics Service.

The agency said Saudi Arabia received 1,120 tonnes worth $5.64 million during the reporting period, Caliber.Az reports, Georgian media.

Azerbaijan ranked second by the value of imports, while becoming the largest destination by export volume.

Georgia supplied 1,236.8 tonnes of live sheep and goats to Azerbaijan worth $3.44 million, up 24% in value and 49.4% in volume compared with the same period last year.

Overall exports of live sheep and goats from Georgia increased more than 2.6-fold year on year during the first seven months of 2026.

Iraq ranked third by value, with imports worth $3.28 million, followed by Qatar at $1.92 million and Kuwait at $1.05 million. Georgia also exported live sheep and goats to Libya and Uzbekistan.
