Third school attack in two days leaves Russian teacher injured VIDEO

A fifth-grade student stabbed a teacher at a school in New Moscow, marking the third reported knife attack at a Russian school in just two days.

The incident occurred at School No. 1392 named after Ryabinkin in the Maryino settlement, where the student brought a knife into the school and wounded a teacher. The teacher was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The student was detained.

School principal Denis Bakharev said the child, who has “health-related special needs,” attempted to attack the teacher with a bladed weapon before being restrained by security personnel. The teacher sustained superficial injuries and is receiving medical treatment, Bakharev said.

Police are at the school, while the administration has launched an internal investigation into the incident.

However, Moscow’s Interior Ministry said that it had not received any information about the incident. The Moscow branch of the Investigative Committee declined to comment. The motive for the attack remains unknown.

The incident is at least the third reported knife attack at a Russian school since the beginning of the new school year.

Earlier on September 2, a 14-year-old ninth-grade student at a gymnasium in the village of Kushnarenkovo, Bashkortostan, stabbed a 15-year-old classmate multiple times. The victim underwent emergency surgery and remains in stable condition. The attacker was detained, and the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on suspicion of attempted murder.

A day earlier, a seventh-grade girl attacked teachers and students at School No. 2 in Kansk, Krasnoyarsk Region. Seven people were injured, and the Investigative Committee launched a criminal investigation.
