Car plows into pro-government gathering in Iran, killing four VIDEO

Four people were killed and more than 10 others injured after a car crashed into a gathering of supporters of Iran’s government and armed forces in the northeastern city of Mashhad overnight, Al Arabiya reports.

The vehicle was traveling at high speed when it first collided with another car, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle then struck safety barriers and traffic signs before veering into the crowd, the report said, citing Mohsen Mousa-Abadi, head of the traffic police in Razavi Khorasan Province.

Mousa-Abadi said the driver was arrested following the incident. Initial checks indicated that he was not in a normal condition at the time of the crash, although the official did not provide further details.

Authorities have so far described the incident as a traffic accident, with no immediate indication of a political motive.

The gathering was part of a series of recurring events attended by supporters of the Iranian government and armed forces since the war with the United States began in late February.
