Russian philosopher predicts Zelenskyy’s fall amid airspace threat His days are numbered

Russian philosopher Alexander Dugin views the Ukrainian's president's recent remarks about Russia's airspace as a deliberate escalation of tensions in the conflict with Moscow while calling the leader's days as "numbered".

Dugin, who is also a political analyst and presents himself as the leader of the so-called International Eurasian Movement, has spoken to Russian news media outlet NEWS.Ru about Volodymyr Zelenskyy's warning to foreign airlines and insurers that enter the country's airspace.

“Zelensky is undoubtedly escalating. His days are numbered, Ukraine will soon fall, and a terrible fate awaits him. Therefore, he is going all out and raising the stakes,” the philosopher forecasts.

His comments respond to news of Ukraine's president having warned foreign airlines that Russian airspace will be "effectively closing" as his country escalates its drone strikes.

"We want to warn every airline that uses Russian airspace, every insurer, everyone who still uses key Russian airports: the Russian sky is becoming completely dangerous," Zelenskyy said on September 1 in his evening address to the public via his official social media channels. Ukraine has since formally notified the UN of the risks to civilian aviation.

Dugin, who is widely viewed by Western governments as being tightly associated with the Kremlin, further claimed that Zelenskyy's behaviour is an indication that he views his political future as uncertain.

According to Dugin, Russia’s response to such threats should be tough. He noted that Russia cannot impose a no-fly zone over Ukraine because the country’s airspace has already been closed for several years.

“I think we need to reconsider our approach to the security of Ukraine’s military and political leadership and try to replace it with new people — perhaps they will be more rational. If not, replace it again, and again, because it is necessary to force this terrorist entity, namely modern Ukraine, to comply with certain rules,” he urged.

The philosopher's daughter, Darya Dugina, a political scientist who joined her father at many events and conferences, was killed in August 2023 shortly after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine when a bomb detonated in her vehicle on the outskirts of Moscow. Russian officials and investigative authorities have widely blamed the attack on Ukrainian special services.
