Russia summons German envoy after Berlin attributes Leipzig drone incident to Moscow VIDEO

Russia has summoned Germany’s chargé d’affaires in Moscow, Bernd Finke, amid what the Russian Foreign Ministry described as anti-Russian actions and statements by the German authorities.

Finke was summoned to the ministry on September 2, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement, following measures announced by Germany the previous day, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

The German government has blamed Russia for a drone incident at Leipzig/Halle Airport and announced a series of countermeasures. These include the closure of Russia’s Consulate General in Bonn on September 18, the termination of an agreement governing the Russian House in Berlin, and tighter entry controls for Russian citizens.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said Germany had chosen a path of escalation, adding that no options on the diplomatic front could be ruled out.

Grushko was responding to questions about the possibility of a downgrade in diplomatic relations between Russia and Germany.
