Russia’s Rosatom plans to take part in Iran’s nuclear programme

Russia’s Rosatom has submitted to Iran a draft agreement on the construction of small-capacity nuclear power plants, signalling its plan to take part in Tehran’s nuclear programme, the corporation’s CEO Alexey Likhachev has stated.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum, he said they had discussed the further development of their relations and, at one point, had signed agreements on another construction site for large power units, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

“During the talks, the Iranians raised the issue of small-capacity facilities, and for our part, we submitted a draft intergovernmental agreement on the construction of small-capacity plants,” Likhachev added.

According to him, Iran’s nuclear programme will develop as the country returns to peaceful life, and Rosatom intends to take part in it.
