Türkiye detains 12 suspects linked to FETÖ via encrypted communications
Türkiye’s Prosecutor General’s Office has announced that the Bureau for the Investigation of Terrorist Crimes has traced operational communication lines used by suspects affiliated with the Fethullah Terrorist Organisation (FETÖ), TRT Haber reports.
The investigation, conducted in coordination with the National Intelligence Organization (MIT) and the Counter-Terrorism Division of the General Directorate of Police, identified 12 suspects who used the organisation’s encrypted communication app, ByLock, as well as prepaid phone lines and payphones for consecutive calls. Some suspects also had testimonies linking them to organisational activities.
Evidence of involvement in FETÖ activities was collected against five suspects working in various government institutions, leading to detention orders for all 12 individuals. Five of the suspects are employed in state institutions.
To carry out the arrests, the Counter-Terrorism Division launched a coordinated operation across four provinces, with Ankara as the central hub.
