Yerevan charges three Armenians over attempted assault on PM Pashinyan
Three Armenian citizens have been charged in connection with a criminal case opened following an attempt to attack Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, as confirmed by the press secretary of the Republic’s Investigative Committee, Kima Avdalyan.
Avdalyan wrote on Facebook that one of the accused faces prosecution for committing hooliganism and interfering with the lawful duties or political activities of an official, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
Another is charged with aiding both hooliganism and interference with an official’s duties. The third individual is accused of organising the hooliganism and orchestrating the interference with the official’s responsibilities, she added.
On March 29, the Armenian Interior Ministry reported the arrest of the three individuals following Sunday’s liturgy at the Church of Saint Anna in Yerevan, where the incident took place. A man attempted to strike Prime Minister Pashinyan as he was leaving the church.
