Russia unveils Zveroboy, Kalitka-KA drone defence systems

Russia’s Kalashnikov concern has unveiled two air defence systems, Zveroboy and Kalitka-KA, at the All-Russian Arms Forum in Moscow.

The company said the Kalitka-KA system is designed to protect strategic facilities and critical infrastructure from reconnaissance and strike drones flying at low and extremely low altitudes, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

Kalashnikov said the system is being used in the “special military operation” zone. It said servicemen had assessed its effectiveness against enemy strike drones at between 70% and 100%, depending on the type of drone.

The Zveroboy system uses high-speed Kraken interceptors – multirotor FPV drones equipped with specialised warheads. Three interceptors are carried in each command post, the company said.

Kalashnikov chief Alan Lushnikov said the company’s approach to countering enemy drones was based on layered defence, combining systems for detecting, suppressing and physically destroying UAVs of different classes and at different ranges.
