European Parliament gives green light to Armenian goods

15 September 2026 15:45

The European Parliament approved temporary trade liberalisation measures applicable to Armenian products, with 583 votes in favour, 49 against and 39 abstentions.

Earlier, on September 2, the EU Council (Coreper II, at ambassadorial level) approved a legislative initiative providing for the temporary suspension of customs duties on a broad range of Armenian goods for two years and the liberalisation of around 80% of Armenia’s exports to the EU, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

Then, on 3 September, the European Parliament’s Committee on International Trade (INTA) approved the proposal to grant trade preferences and temporarily abolish customs duties on goods exported from Armenia to the European Union, with 35 votes in favour, two against and three abstentions.

Armenia primarily exports manufactured goods and mining products to the EU.

The EU is Armenia's fourth-biggest export market, with a 7.9% share of Armenia's total exports in 2025.
