Armenia’s Constitutional Court to review US deal on TRIPP project

15 September 2026 11:41

Armenia’s Constitutional Court will begin reviewing on September 15 whether the strategic cooperation agreement between the country and the United States under the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) project complies with the Constitution.

The TRIPP initiative emerged from the August 8, 2025 Washington summit, where Azerbaijan and Armenia agreed to develop the project with the United States and other mutually determined parties as part of efforts to establish lasting regional connectivity.

In January 2026, Washington and Yerevan published the TRIPP Implementation Framework, setting out the institutional basis for developing the project and emphasising its potential contribution to regional peace, stability and economic development.

The framework envisions cooperation between Armenia and the United States on the project, including the development of infrastructure and mechanisms intended to facilitate transit while attracting investment and strengthening regional economic links.

Azerbaijan and the United States subsequently incorporated TRIPP into their broader strategic partnership agenda, linking the project with the development of the Middle Corridor and wider cooperation in transport, trade, energy and digital infrastructure.
