Putin announces upcoming phone call with Chinese leader Xi Jinping
Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced plans for an imminent phone conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Speaking at a government meeting about Sino-Russian cooperation in the film industry, President Putin remarked: "My colleague, the leader of the People's Republic of China, and I will soon have a telephone conversation," Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
During the meeting, Putin requested an update from Russia's Minister of Culture, Olga Lyubimova, on collaborative film projects with China.
After hearing the report, he asked for the information to be prepared for potential use during his discussion with Xi Jinping.
"Could you please provide me with the relevant details from the briefing notes? That would be helpful for my conversation with our friends," Putin said to Lyubimova.
The two leaders last communicated in person at the BRICS summit in Kazan in October 2024. Prior to that, Putin paid a state visit to China in May of the same year. Their most recent phone conversation took place in February 2024.
