ICRC mourns loss of lives in AZAL plane crash, offers support to Azerbaijan
International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Azerbaijan has expressed its deepest condolences following the tragic crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) plane in the Kazakh city of Aktau.
The organization conveyed its sympathy through an official statement shared on its X account, Caliber.Az reports.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones affected by the tragic crash of the Azerbaijan Airlines flight near Aktau.
Our thoughts are with those who have lost their lives and those who are suffering in the aftermath of this heartbreaking event. We wish a swift recovery to those who are injured,” the post notes.
Earlier today, on December 25, an Embraer 190 aircraft of Azerbaijan Airlines, operating Baku-Grozny flight No. J2-8243, crashed in Aktau.
A total of 67 people were onboard the Azerbaijan Airlines flight, including 62 passengers and 5 crew members, according to a statement from AZAL’s press service.
Among those aboard the plane were 37 Azerbaijan nationals, 16 Russian citizens, six from Kazakhstan, and three from Kyrgyzstan. Emergency personnel, including 52 members of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations and 11 units of equipment, have arrived at the crash site to assist in the recovery operation.
