Azerbaijan’s deputy Prosecutor General on scene as investigation begins into Aktau plane crash AZAL representative says
In response to the plane crash in Kazakhstan, efforts are underway to coordinate with local authorities at the crash site.
Farid Huseynov, the official representative of Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), confirmed these ongoing operations, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
He stated that Kazakhstan's emergency rescue teams are providing vital support in the recovery efforts.
A special investigation team has been formed to determine the cause of the crash, with the Deputy Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan on-site to oversee the proceedings. Additionally, a rescue team from Azerbaijan has been dispatched to Aktau to assist with the ongoing operations and investigation.
Earlier today, on December 25, an Embraer 190 aircraft of Azerbaijan Airlines, operating Baku-Grozny flight No. J2-8243, crashed in Aktau.
A total of 67 people were onboard the Azerbaijan Airlines flight, including 62 passengers and 5 crew members, according to a statement from AZAL’s press service.
Among those aboard the plane were 37 Azerbaijan nationals, 16 Russian citizens, six from Kazakhstan, and three from Kyrgyzstan. Emergency personnel, including 52 members of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations and 11 units of equipment, have arrived at the crash site to assist in the recovery operation.
