Azerbaijan slams online allegations of border arms deployment with Iran PHOTO
Azerbaijan’s Media Development Agency (MEDIA) stated that social media reports claiming heavy weaponry allegedly belonging to the Azerbaijani army has been deployed on the country’s border with Iran constitute deliberate misinformation and manipulation.
Images showing military equipment movement from January of this year, being presented as a new “incident,” along with misleading statements, are intended to misinform the public, Caliber.Az reports per the agency’s press service.
“We strongly condemn such information provocations aimed at creating panic by manipulating facts amid ongoing military actions in the Middle East.
Disseminating information about the movement or deployment of personnel, weapons, ammunition, or military equipment of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces carries criminal liability.
In a tense regional environment, spreading inaccurate information from unknown sources on social media increases the risk of public confusion and disinformation.
Media outlets must demonstrate high professionalism, rely only on official sources, and avoid sharing content of dubious or manipulative nature, including from social media,” the MEDIA agency emphasised.
