Azerbaijan celebrates Novruz, marking arrival of spring
Today, people across Azerbaijan are celebrating Novruz.
Caliber.Az reminds that this is already the sixth Novruz holiday marked by the Azerbaijani people following their victory in the Patriotic War.
The holiday has very ancient roots in Azerbaijani land. This folk celebration, which has withstood the test of time, has long been deeply embedded in the spiritual world of the nation and has played a significant role in shaping its traditional values.
Novruz Bayram symbolises the beginning of the new year and the arrival of the first day of spring.
It should be noted that on September 30, 2009, Novruz was inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, and on February 23, 2010, the United Nations declared March 21 as the International Day of Novruz.
This year, astronomical spring begins on March 20 at 18:46 Baku time.
In connection with the Novruz and Ramadan holidays, March 20–31 have been declared non-working days in the country.
