Shepherd killed in mine explosion in Azerbaijan’s Khojavand district
A shepherd has been killed in a landmine explosion in Azerbaijan’s Khojavand district, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) said in a joint statement.
The incident occurred on March 12 in the village of Ashagi Veysalli, located in an area previously liberated from occupation, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The victim, Ramiz Mashallah oglu Hajiyev, a resident of the Aghdam district born in 1968, stepped on an anti-tank mine while grazing livestock on a section of land along the former line of contact that has not yet been cleared of mines.
Hajiyev died at the scene as a result of the explosion.
ANAMA specialists who arrived at the site recovered the body and handed it over to the relevant authorities.
The regional prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation into the incident.
