Flights suspended at Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan airport amid drone strike
Flights at Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan International Airport have been temporarily suspended due to the Iranian drone that hit the territory of the airport, the airport’s press service said.
The airport said both domestic and international flights had been halted while the situation was being assessed in coordination with relevant authorities, Caliber.Az reports.
The airport added that additional information would be provided to the public as it becomes available.
According to Azerbaijani reports, the incident occurred around midday on March 5, when unmanned aerial vehicles launched from Iranian territory struck civilian sites in Nakhchivan. One drone hit the terminal building of Nakhchivan International Airport, while another crashed near a school in the village of Shakarabad. The strikes caused damage to infrastructure and left four civilians injured.
