Agency warns against systematic disinformation about Azerbaijan on social media
Azerbaijan’s Media Development Agency (MEDİA) has raised the alarm over the systematic spread of false information about the country on social media platforms.
MEDİA identified a page presenting itself as “Qəzetçi” as the source of the disinformation, which allegedly aimed to create confusion among the public and undermine the country’s international reputation, Caliber.Az reports, citing the agency.
The agency noted that this “resource,” whose main mission is to pollute the country’s information environment from abroad and create confusion in public opinion, circulated false claims about the alleged mobilisation of 150 doctors and paramedics and their dispatch to the Astara District and Fuzuli District near the border with Iran.
“We strongly condemn such information provocations and state that this kind of subversive activity entails legal liability,” the statement said.
The agency also called on all media outlets, journalists, and public activists to rely exclusively on official sources in their work and to refrain from publishing information that may cause public anxiety.
