Türkiye fulfilling historical responsibility as key actor in promoting peace, stability Head of Communications says
Fahrettin Altun, the communications director for the Turkish presidency, spoke about Türkiye's role in global diplomacy, touching on issues related to Syria, EU aspirations, and Russia's war in Ukraine.
In an interview with Euronews, Altun emphasized that under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Türkiye is fulfilling its historical responsibility as a key actor in promoting peace and stability, Caliber.Az reports.
He highlighted the country’s role in mediating various international situations, including the recent negotiations between Somalia and Ethiopia, as well as the Black Sea Grain Initiative.
He pointed to Türkiye’s diplomatic efforts between Russia and Ukraine as another significant example, noting that Istanbul had been presented as a peace platform during these negotiations, a move that received international approval.
Altun expressed hope that the involved parties might reunite in Istanbul for further discussions, underscoring that Türkiye, as a stabilizing force, is prepared to offer all forms of support, including humanitarian aid and facilitating peace talks.
“We believe that all sides must engage constructively and responsibly to prevent the crisis between Russia and Ukraine from escalating further,” Altun said.
He concluded by reaffirming Türkiye’s commitment to maintaining not only regional peace but also global stability, a goal the country continues to pursue actively.
