Israel conducts air raids on southern Lebanon, targeting Hezbollah
Israel carried out two air raids on the territory of southern Lebanon.
Israeli warplanes conducted two raids on the town of Khiam, Caliber.Az reports via a foreign TV channel.
Al Jazeera TV channel further reported that the airstrikes hit several targets in southern Lebanon, with explosions heard in the south of the city of Tyre and its surrounding areas. Three villages near the border were also struck.
The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) confirmed that they had targeted sites belonging to the Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah "both deep inside Lebanese territory and in southern Lebanon." The strikes focused on weapons caches and infrastructure in the areas of Chabriha, Borj al-Shmali, Bekaa, Kfarkela, Rab al-Talatin, Khiam, and Tayr Harfa, according to the IDF.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a warning to Hezbollah, threatening retaliation after an attack in the Golan Heights that resulted in the deaths of 12 civilians. “Hezbollah refused to take responsibility for the strike,” Netanyahu stated.
