Netherlands commits €42.6 million for drone support to Ukraine
The Netherlands has announced plans to supply Ukraine with drones valued at €42.6 million, according to Dutch Defence Minister Ruben Brekelmans in a post on X.
"Ukraine urgently needs modern drones," he stated, confirming that the Dutch company DeltaQuad will deliver reconnaissance drones as part of this initiative, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
This supply marks the first tangible step in the Drone Action Plan that Brekelmans unveiled during his early October visit to Ukraine.
The unarmed reconnaissance drones are designed for long-distance flights, enabling real-time battlefield data collection, intelligence gathering, and monitoring of enemy movements. The Dutch authorities have not disclosed the exact number of drones to be supplied for security reasons.
Earlier this month, the Netherlands committed €400 million to support the Drone Action Plan for Ukraine. This initiative will facilitate the joint development of advanced drones and expedite the production of effective prototypes.
In addition, reports indicate that the Netherlands is set to allocate €271 million for munitions to Ukraine, scheduled for delivery in 2025.
Furthermore, Ukrainian forces have received official authorization to target military sites in Russia using F-16 fighter jets.
