PM: Moldova has shed its dependence on Russian gas
Moldova has shed its dependence on Russian gas after reducing consumption following the outbreak of a full-scale war in Ukraine, Prime Minister Dorin Recean stated on May 18.
"While at the beginning of the war, 100 per cent of the energy Moldova consumed came from Russia, today Moldova is no longer dependent on energy supplies from Russia," Recean said at a security conference in Bucharest, Evropeyskaya Pravda reports.
"Moldova no longer consumes natural gas from Russia, Moldova is integrated into the European energy network both technically and commercially," he added.
According to Recean, Romania has helped the country cope with energy challenges.
Moldova was almost entirely dependent on the Russian gas company Gazprom for gas imports. Natural gas supplies led to frequent disputes between Moldova and Russia.
