Putin: Russia's proposal aims to achieve immediate cessation of hostilities
Russian President Vladimir Putin has outlined a proposal aimed at halting ongoing hostilities in Ukraine promptly.
Putin made the relevant statement during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
He emphasized that acceptance of Russia's plan by Kyiv and its Western supporters could lead directly to a cessation of fighting, thereby saving lives and initiating negotiations.
"In mid-June, we presented an alternative approach to resolving the Ukraine conflict. If Ukraine and, importantly, its Western sponsors, are willing to accept this plan, it would enable an immediate cessation of hostilities," Putin stated.
He underscored the humanitarian imperative of such an agreement, emphasizing its potential to mitigate further loss of life and pave the way for diplomatic negotiations.
