Russian analyst warns of Armenia's slide into instability & western influence

09 April 2024 14:24

According to a report by Caliber.Az, during discussions with Armenian media, Russian political analyst Aslan Rubayev raised concerns while analyzing the outcomes of the trilateral Armenia-EU-US meeting in Brussels.

He has expressed his lack of comprehensive understanding of the intricacies discussed during the Brussels summit, particularly with regard to the agreements reached between European and American leaders and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Despite lacking comprehensive details, the magnitude of funds earmarked for Armenia is staggering. This substantial financial allocation raises concerns as it not only risks falling into the hands of individuals compromising Armenia's sovereignty and territorial integrity but also fuels the spectre of further conflict.

Rubayev expressed apprehension that Armenia may be following a path akin to that of Ukraine, with funds potentially contributing to fostering anti-Russian sentiment and bolstering Armenia's military capabilities while benefiting a select elite willing to sacrifice national sovereignty.

He noted the Western agenda appears focused on instigating conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, showcasing the CSTO's ineffectiveness in intervening, thereby destabilizing the South Caucasus region.

"Regrettably, Pashinyan and his circle are perceived as facilitating Armenia's sale to Western interests, amplifying concerns over the nation's future," the expert said.
