Ukraine army downs 79% of Russian drones, says general
Ukrainian Air Defence Forces have successfully shot down 79 per cent of drones used by Russia in the war in Ukraine.
The statement was made on October 27 by Oleksiy Hromov, Brigadier General, Deputy Chief of the Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, at a briefing by Ukraine’s representatives of the Security and Defence Forces on operational information on the frontline of the Russian-Ukrainian war and the security situation in Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.
“The effectiveness of the air defence system also remains at a fairly high level and accounts for 79 per cent of downed enemy drones. Over the past 24 hours alone, 18 out of 20 kamikaze drones have been destroyed by air defence forces and means,” Hromov said.
According to him, Ukraine’s troops destroyed six Russian Ka-52, Mi-24, and Mi-28 attack helicopters last week. The total number of destroyed Russian helicopters approaches 250, which is equivalent to 5 regiments of army aviation.
“Therefore, we can congratulate all the crews of the army aviation of the armed forces of the Russian Federation on their upcoming professional holiday, tomorrow they have army aviation day. Let them fly, we will shoot them down,” Hromov added.
