Media: Germany foils suspected plot against drone maker's CEO

German security authorities have thwarted a suspected attack targeting Stefan Thumann, the head of German drone manufacturer Donaustahl, Die Zeit reports, citing sources.

The report said two suspected Russian intelligence agents monitored Thumann between December 2025 and March 2026.

They allegedly photographed and filmed his home in Bavaria and the company's offices, while also gathering information about him online.

Late last year, a partner foreign intelligence service alerted German authorities to a suspected plot against the executive, enabling the arrest this spring of Ukrainian national Serhii N. and Romanian national Alla S. in Germany and Spain. Both were detained on suspicion of espionage.

Thumann is now under police protection. According to Die Zeit, the investigation has been classified.

The newspaper's sources also said that the life of another senior executive from Germany's defence industry is believed to be under threat.
