Ukraine reports possible downing of Russian Su-30 and Su-34 aircraft
Ukrainian officials have reported the possible destruction of two Russian military aircraft — a Su-30 fighter jet and a Su-34 bomber.
The head of Ukraine’s Centre for Countering Disinformation, Andriy Kovalenko, unveiled the information on his Telegram channel.
According to Kovalenko, one of the aircraft, the Su-30, was likely shot down using a Patriot surface-to-air missile system.
Reports circulating within Ukraine’s information space indicate that Ukrainian forces may have struck a Russian aircraft over the Black Sea near Snake Island. Overall, the information points to two potential losses for Russia’s air force.
The circumstances surrounding the downing of the second aircraft, the Su-34, remain unknown.
It has also been reported that the crew of one of the aircraft likely did not survive. However, the information about the destruction of the Su-30 and Su-34 is currently spreading at an unofficial level, and official confirmation is still expected from the command of the Ukrainian Air Force or the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
