Ukraine urges West to arm against escalating Russian threat
An urgent plea from Mykhailo Podolyak, an advisor to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has underscored the pressing need for Western nations to arm Ukraine amid escalating tensions with Russia.
Podolyak urged the West not to harbour illusions about possible freezing of the conflict in Ukraine and said that it was necessary to " dramatically expand military production" and provide Kyiv with a parity number of weapons, Gazeta.ru reports citing his X social media account (formerly Twitter).
According to him, there is no "positional war" and signs of freezing hostilities in the conflict, while Russia "continues to escalate". Podolyak believes that a confrontation of this type "has only a military solution."
"So, once again: let's have no illusions; it will not be possible to just sit and wait; it will still be necessary to dramatically expand military production and saturate Ukraine with a parity amount of weapons. The faster, the more effective and the better the situation will look..." - Podolyak wrote.
Before this, he said that the Russian Armed Forces were successful in advancing across the territory of Ukraine, striking the Ukrainian army and not allowing them to defend themselves. The presidential adviser believes that Russia can refuse to go on a large-scale offensive, but will still advance further on Ukrainian territory.
Earlier, the USA said that Ukraine was unable to prevent the loss of territories.
