Ambassador: Hungary, Azerbaijan face important tasks this year
Hungary's ambassador to Azerbaijan Tamás Torma has said that the upcoming 11th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Hungary Joint Intergovernmental Commission is expected to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.
Torma made these remarks during a ceremonial event celebrating Hungary's National Day, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
"This year presents significant challenges for both Hungary and Azerbaijan. Hungary is presiding over the European Council for the second time since 2011, with a focus on enhancing Europe’s competitiveness, expansion, and neighbourhood policy," the ambassador emphasised.
The 10th session of the Azerbaijan-Hungary Intergovernmental Commission was held in Baku in April 2024. The increasingly robust cooperation between Azerbaijan and Hungary in the energy sector was enhanced last year with agreements focused on gas initiatives.
Additionally, both nations are striving to diversify their trade and economic relations by expanding investment opportunities. Hungarian companies aim to increase their involvement in joint projects across various sectors, including air transportation, food production, and bus assembly.
They are also prepared to undertake initiatives in "green" energy and contribute to the revitalization of Karabakh. These and other key elements of the bilateral business agenda were discussed in Baku during the 10th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Hungary Joint Intergovernmental Commission.
