Israel, Azerbaijan prepare for fifth intergovernmental commission meeting Ambassador confirms

Israel's Ambassador to Baku confirmed that the fifth meeting of the two countries' intergovernmental commission will be held in Azerbaijan this year.

Diplomat Ronen Krausz told local reporters that preparations are underway to convene the next session, as Caliber.Az reports, though he revealed that some details are yet to be finalized. 

Krausz also highlighted several areas with strong potential for expanding bilateral economic and technological ties, including information technology, innovation, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.

According to the ambassador, cooperation between Israel and Azerbaijan in cybersecurity has been developing for several years, including through the involvement of one of Azerbaijan’s local academies.

The two countries have also been working to advance cooperation in artificial intelligence, with Kraus recalling that a memorandum of understanding on artificial intelligence has been signed. Speaking on this topic, he stated that the sides will try to "move forward" on this matter. 

Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov and Israel’s Finance Minister Ze’ev Elkin serve as the commission’s co-chairs. The last meeting of the commission took place on November 20, 2025, in Jerusalem.
