Azerbaijan’s sovereignty fully restored in 2023, parliament speaker says

The victory in the 44-day Patriotic War led to the liberation of most Azerbaijani cities and villages from 30 years of occupation and created conditions for the restoration of the country’s territorial integrity.

Milli Majlis Speaker Sahiba Gafarova made the remarks at today’s parliamentary session dedicated to September 27, Remembrance Day, according to Report.

According to Gafarova, the one-day anti-terrorist operation conducted in September 2023 completed a crucial stage in securing Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity.

“The sovereignty of our state was fully restored, and the Constitution of the country was enforced throughout its entire territory.

These historic achievements embodied the triumph of the strategic course initiated by national leader Heydar Aliyev and successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev,” she said.
