Iran expresses interest in expanding military cooperation with Azerbaijan

First Deputy Minister of Defence and Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijan Army, Colonel General Karim Valiyev, met with Lieutenant General Reza Sheikhhasani, Deputy Chief of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces, on September 30.

Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defence told Caliber.Az that Valiyev emphasised the importance of mutual visits and meetings in expanding bilateral military ties and exchanging experience.

Sheikhhasani, for his part, said that Iran was interested in developing bilateral military cooperation with Azerbaijan.

The two sides also held a detailed exchange of views on developments in the region and other issues of mutual interest.
