Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Georgia step up customs cooperation PHOTO

The 6th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Türkiye Joint Committee on Customs Matters was held in Goygol district, bringing together officials from Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee and Türkiye’s Ministry of Trade.

The sides discussed ways to strengthen customs cooperation, including Türkiye’s experience in implementing a new computerized transit system, the simplification of customs procedures and measures to expedite the passage of freight vehicles across the border, Caliber.Az reports.

The participants also exchanged views on combating customs violations, best practices in risk management, the operation of authorized economic operators and the use of mirrored customs statistics. Opportunities for conducting joint operations and training programs were also discussed.

A protocol was signed following the meeting.

Later, representatives of Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee held talks with their Georgian counterparts. The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation at customs checkpoints, improving transit procedures, expanding electronic information exchange and further developing operational cooperation between the two countries’ customs authorities.
