Azerbaijani citizens killed, injured in drone attack on cargo ship in Black Sea MFA statement

A foreign-flagged cargo ship named TEDY, with Azerbaijani citizens among its crew, came under drone attacks in the Black Sea on 9 September, in which Azerbaijani citizens Aslan Aliyev and Asim Gasimov were killed, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry has stated.

The ministry outlined that another two people, Imran Novruzov and Rauf Aliyev, were injured in the incident and taken to a hospital in Chornomorsk, Ukraine, Caliber.Az reports.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is currently coordinating on the matter with Azerbaijan’s diplomatic missions, as well as the competent authorities of the relevant countries. Measures are being taken to provide the injured citizens with the necessary consular assistance and return them to Azerbaijan after they undergo medical examinations and treatment, as well as to carry out the necessary procedures concerning the bodies of those killed.

We extend our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those killed and wish the injured a speedy recovery.

We once again call on Azerbaijani citizens to refrain from travelling to regions where military operations are ongoing or the security situation remains unstable, engaging in employment in such areas, or working on means of transport, including vessels, operating along these routes,” the statement added.
